What Time of Day Should I Exercise

“What time of day do most elderly/ retiree prefer to exercise? I want to offer a fitness class for this age group and want to time it for when they would like it. Thanks!”

Thanks for the great question. Many seniors and elderly have special physical and medical conditions that may require adjusting activities during the day.

This may include timing medication doses to allow for increased activity, spacing eating periods, and providing resting or sleeping periods during the day.

I have found that for an hour exercise class, timing it just before lunch works well. They have had time to process breakfast, take their medications, and even rest a little before their session.

Then after class they can look forward to socializing with their friends for lunch or going home for a nap.

Having a class later in the day often interferes with doctors appointments and dinner and evening preparations. Hope that helps.
