Boy, if I could solve those two problems I would be living the good life! Loosing weight is the first thing I would address.
But if it were easy then the world would be full of thin people! Generally I feel the best way to loose weight is to exercise at least 45 minutes a day by walking at a BRISK pace.
You will usually see results in 4 to 6 week. If this does not seem to be working, then you will need to modify your diet, eat less, etc.
The only way to work on trimming your tummy is by strengthening your abdominal. Unfortunately this involves doing more exercise!
The best is your traditional bent knee crunch. To do this, lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
Place your hands behind your head and tighten your tummy muscles and flatten your back out on the floor. Then lift your shoulders off the ground.
Repeat until you get tired. Do as many repetitions as you can. You will be very sore the next day but continue these every day or at least every other day.
Here is an example:
Monday: Walk 45 minutes briskly. Perform 3 sets of 20 repetitions of crunches.
Tuesday: Walk 45 minutes briskly.
Wednesday: Walk 45 minutes briskly. Perform 3 sets of 20 repetitions of crunches.
Thursday: Walk 45 minutes briskly.
Friday: Walk 45 minutes briskly. Perform 3 sets of 20 repetitions of crunches.
Saturday: Walk 45 minutes briskly.
Sunday: Watch TV!
